The Tate Modern (Bankside, London SE1 9TG) is packed with events from August through to September with events suited to all ages and interests.

Sign and Texture

Until: 19th October

A display bringing together works from the 1950's onwards. The artists featured include Fred Williams, an Australian artist who explored a number of ways in which the landscape could be abstracted by use of texture, colour and form.
 
Mark Rothko
 
From: 26th September 2008 until 1 February 2009
 
An exhibition by one of the world's most famous and loved artists. The first exhibition of this kind to be held in the UK for over 20 years. Rothko uses shapes full of colour. A must see exhibition for this year.  A stunning exhibition.  The artwork covers a large area.  The colours are vivid and draw you into the painting.
 
The Tate Britain (Millbank, London SW1P 4RG) exhibits the largest display of British Art in the world. Future and current exhibitions:
New contemporary art displays
Consisting of abstraction from the 1960s through to1990s. A particular area of interes is the exploration into the use of collage and objects by various artists including Damien Hirst and Tracey Emin.
 
Nahnou-Together Now (We-Together)
 
A display brought together by Tate Britain, the British Council in partnership with the Adham Ismail Centre, Syria Darat al Funun, the Jordan National Gallery of Fine Arts and the Ministry of Education, Jordan. Representing various voices challenging the presentation of the 'middle east' in the media the display consists of photography and film and is led by British artists.
